Manager of Employee Relations and HR Shared Services
Due to considerable changes across the business, my client is keen to secure an experienced Shared Service Manager who has a solid background within Employee Relations to drive transformation, engagement and a culture shift in partnership with the Head of HR. This organisation is currently going through a huge amount of change including a recent privatisation of the services division so we are looking for a commercial individual who is confident in managing Union Relationships, process efficiencies and employee engagement.
• Providing credible and professional ER advice service to managers across the UK. This will be in line with company requirements and will include, but not be limited to performance management, disciplinary, grievance, absence management, investigations, diversity and inclusion and flexible working. The role will also from time to time provide advice and guidance to employees on HR policy related queries.
• Developing an effective HRSS delivery model that delivers an excellent customer service on all HR transactional related tasks within agreed SLA's.
• Manage the companies relationships with its trade unions and ensure that these relationships are productive and stable. Provide resources – via a facilities agreement to enable the trade unions to positively engage with the company. Create a framework of meetings and interactions that facilitate regular contact between the company and its trade unions and create a platform to build a better workplace.
The role is based in Birmingham, but the incumbent must be flexible to travel across the UK as required.
Develop the HRSS delivery model and ensure SLA's are put in place to measure performance of team
Recruit, develop and train HRSS Officers to deliver a consistently high standard of service
Oversee the administrative workload and take steps to simplify it and streamline it.
Monitor and analyse workloads and take positive steps to address issues and proactively reduce activity.
Develop an effective case management system that manages the flow of work in line with SLAs
Ensuring that the case management system is kept up to date with an outline of advice provided, actions agreement and steps in place to manage ER issues
Producing monthly case management reports and share with appropriate stakeholders
Oversee the development of a new set of policies and procedures for employees in partnership with the trades unions.
Seek to develop a more modern and commercial set of terms and conditions that are significantly more simple and straightforward than existing terms.
Working in partnership with HR Business Partners to oversee complex cases and that require HR attendance to formal meetings
Updating the HR system with the outcome of meetings to ensure accurate reporting
Knowledge / Experience:
Experienced and varied HR background within an operational HR role an advantage, but experience within a similar ER type role or extensive ER experience is essential
Ability to assess risks and make fair decisions that meet the needs of the business
Successful experience of coaching, advising and influencing managers at all levels and at all stages of informal / formal HR processes
Leadership experience a pre requisite
Proven experience of working with trade unions essential
Experience of managing a transaction centre
Excellent planning and organisational abilities with the capability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise accordingly
Effective in building relationships with managers and stakeholders at all levels
Previous experience of restructures/TUPE would be an advantage
