Assistant HR Director – Systems & Performance

Location: Solihull, Worcester or can be home based with regular travel to these 2 sites

Package from c. £65,000 to £75,0000 plus excellent benefits


Due to recent merger activity, my client – a newly formed and branded not for profit organisation – is now keen to secure a further senior HR professional to take on the role of Assistant HR Director, with responsibility for all operational HR divisions. The post-holder will sit on the SMT and join 2 others at this level, with ultimate responsibility for the below HR divisions:

• HR Admin support

• 1st line HR query support

• HR Systems

• Payroll & Pensions

• Reward & Benefits

• HR Metrics / Data

• HR Compliance

• Workforce Planning

With this in mind we are looking for a senior HR candidate with demonstrable experience within the above fields rather than within a generalist remit.


* Aligning key processes within the above HR directorates to the wider People Agenda and company goals, ensuring the successful delivery of business objectives, alongside creating a customer centric culture

* Full accountability for departmental budgets, delivering the agreed financial performance and KPIs for operational activities

* Ensuring that appropriate compliance and control systems are created and operating across the business

* Attend regular meetings with the wider Senior Management team (SMT), adopting a collaborative approach to ensuring business success

* Line management of HR specialists within the above disciplines, supporting, developing & coaching appropriately to ensure high performance & engagement

* Support the Group HR Director in relevant project management, change management and organisational development initiatives

* Ensure that managers are given professional advice and guidance in relation to: HR Information Systems, Payroll, Reward and Benefits, HR Compliance, Workforce Planning and HR metrics.

* Responsibility for the maintenance of the HR system – Cascade – including regular upgrades

* Oversee the HR Admin and 1st line Query support teams, ensuring an efficient service is offered and delivered to the wider business

* Lead & manage the Payroll function

* Oversee all Reward activity, including salary benchmarking, job evaluation & pension management

* Ensure compliance with all relevant HR legislation & regulations e.g. GPDR, DBS, Right to Work etc., during the on-boarding process

* Prepare and distribute relevant reports to the Executive Team, the Remuneration Committee and the Group Board, making recommendations where appropriate


* Extensive experience working as a senior leader in HR, with demonstrable exposure to the key areas / divisions mentioned above

* CIPD qualification or relevant HR degree

* Prior exposure to managing change management processes

* Excellent line management skills

* Strong senior stakeholder management skills alongside an excellent communication style

* Strong ICT skillset with an analytical mindset

* An innovative approach to solving HR tasks within an operational / transactional HR remit
