I am recruiting an Employee Relations Business Partner for a large service provider in Birmingham City Centre. This role will provide professional advice to managers across the UK and Northern Ireland. You will operate across the following areas; performance management, disciplinary, grievance, absence management, investigations and flexible working. You will be heavily involved with Unions whilst the business makes a number of changes so experience of this is essential. The role is based in Birmingham however travel will be required across the UK when needed. Other duties will include:

Case management

 Using the case management system to effectively manage flow of work in line with agreed SLAs

 Ensuring that the case management system is kept up to date with an outline of advice provided, actions agreement and steps in place to manage ER issues

 Producing monthly case management reports and share with appropriate stakeholders

 Working in partnership with HR Business Partners to oversee complex cases and that require HR attendance to formal meetings

 Updating the HR system (CIPHR) with the outcome of meetings to ensure accurate reporting

Legal disputes/litigation

 Escalating legal disputes and commercial risks to the appropriate key stakeholders at the right time (e.g. HRBP, Director, general counsel)

 Overseeing the management of Employment Tribunal cases and other dispute resolution matters in the most commercial way in partnership with legal support as required

Framework/manager toolkit

 Ensures that the ER framework is being adhered to by managers across the business

 Develops and maintains the HR Hub to ensure that it is fit for purpose and equips managers with the right tools to deal with people issues (i.e. templates, scripts, process maps)

Manager development

 Developing managers in effective ER management through a range of channels including; webinars, drop in sessions, face to face training and seeking support from HR and L&D Business Partners as required

Ideal Key Skills/ Experience

• Solid HR background within an operational HR role an advantage, but experience within a similar ER type role or extensive ER experience is essential

• Ability to assess risks and make fair decisions that meet the needs of the business

• Successful experience of coaching, advising and influencing managers at all levels and at all stages of informal / formal HR processes

• CIPD qualified

• Excellent planning and organisational abilities with the capability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise accordingly

• Effective in building relationships with managers and stakeholders at all levels

Experience of operating with Unions outside of casework.
